Cabinet to draw up proposals to EU on modernizing Ukraine gas pipelines, Azarov says

As the construction of the pipelines by-passing Ukraine is a reality, we realize that only extensive modernization of Ukraine pipelines will keep them competitive to continue as the most reliable route for the pumping of the Russian and Turkmeni gas to Europe, Azarov said.
 Ukraine should attract atleast US$15-20 billion to implement the modernization, Azarov estimates. He said the EBRD had funded similar projects in Ukraine in the past and future cooperation with the bank will be welcomed.
