To sell one’s ballot means to give to criminals something very valuable, head of UGKC Cardinal Huzar warns

It is a great sin to sell one’s ballot. It means to give something very valuable to criminals. The seller harms the God and himself, and cannot criticize anyone or anything afterwards, Cardinal Liubomyr Huzar, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church told parishioners in church, the UGCC press service reported Jan. 4.

Cardinal Huzar warned voters: “Thinking about which candidate to vote for, you cannot rely merely on pre-election speeches of candidates. Today, we are flooded by the ocean of promises. Ukrainians have to check not merely the promises but also the past deeds and conduct of candidates, analyzing whether their agendas will really do good to Ukraine and the people. The final decisions should be taken only in the wake of such analysis. Your voice has to help make the right choice.”
We can see many attempts in the media to analyze the developments in 2009, the cardinal went on. This analysis is done predominantly by politicians, experts and journalists. However, the common feature of this analysis is the lack of a religious dimension, Huzar said.
The religious dimension today is reduced to a belief that individuals begin to view themselves as creators and masters of life, environment and history. The life of such individuals sooner or later ends up in some big defeat and punishment. Meanwhile, if individuals recognize that they are in the hands of God and that God is the creator, benefactor and master of the universe, they can progress,” Cardinal Huzar concluded.
