Ukraine, Russia: Oil war instead of gas war in early 2010

Russia has warned the European Union of likely about the likely disruption of its oil supplies via Ukraine and Slovakia due to higher pumping tariffs claimed by Ukraine, The Ukrayinska pravda cited Slovakia government statement as saying Dec. 27. The Slovakia government called an emergency session to deal with the situation. Russia supplies the bulk of its oil to Europe via the Druzhba oli lines through the two of its branches: the northern one via Belarus, Poland and Germany and the southern one via Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. 
In early 2009, Russia suspended transit of its gas to Europe in the wake of a conflict with Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukraine was reported to be engaged in talks with Russia over higher oil transit tariffs.
