Judge Zvarych and Lozynsky must sing in prison choir for the rest of their lives - Hrytsenko

The president must have muscle enough to run the country efficiently. To get the muscle, the constitution must be changed, presidential candidate Anatoly Hrytsenko told The BBC weekly Nov. 30. However, even under the present circumstances, the incumbent has enough power since he has leverage over the Constitutional Court, Central bank, prosecutor general’s office, Security service, defense ministry, foreign ministry and oblast governors. The new president’s initial decision will show whether he will play for keeps. Officials are very sensitive people and can read the signals sent to them. If I win the highest office, corruption-riddled officials won’t wait for my inauguration. They will find reasons to resign quietly,” Hrytsenko said.New officials will accept the new rules of the game, he assured.
When he became defense minister, Hrytsenko recalls, he didn’t launch any personnel purges, of 1,300 officials only10 resigned. “They knew at the ministry that promotions won’t be ensured by paying bribes. They knew that Hrytsenko doesn’t steal and won’t let anyone to steal. If anyone dared to steal, he was dismissed at once and his case prosecuted,” the former minister said.
When I inspected the troops, some local commanders first tried to show me how everything was clean and tidy. I cut short these shenanigans and went right to the firing ranges and training grounds to check combat readiness. Sometimes a lieutenant would fail his shooting test and I would score high. In this case, the officer and his chiefs were ashamed, Hrytsenko continued.
Officers who failed their tests, either in combat or physical training, were given time to make up.
Hrytsenko opts for strictly observing the laws, something vital for putting Ukraine into order.
His other campaign agenda includes criminal accountability of officials, especially in the law-enforcement. Hrytsenko wants life sentences to corrupt judges, prosecutors and investigators.
“Since judges are appointed for life, they must be jailed for the same term,” says Anatoly Hrytsenko. He does not favor blood-thirsty methods, but the country should be shown that such moral beasts as judge Zvarych and lawmaker Lozynsky will sing in the prison choir for the remainder of their lives,” Hrytsenko said.

In order to be considered a serious contender you need to have at least 15% support in the primary vote.
Hrytsenko is one of four Our Ukraine members running against Yushchenko (*For this we thank him) each one is competing against each other for their share of the same vote. our Ukraine at best united represents around 14% divided they will fall. If Ukraine had a preferential voting system then the outcome might be different.
What Elmer and others do not accept is there is no competition in this election. 45 days to polling day the gap between second and third place is too great. .
Yanukovych with 32% of the vote is secured to progress to the second round as is Yulia Tymoshenko on 17% the next highest 3rd placed candidate is 10 percentage points behind Tymoshenko.
The whole election is a farce is design and concept. You will never have democracy under a presidential system
The main problem in the system is Ukraine's overt reliance on the presidential system. The presidential system is the cornerstone of corruption. Fix the foundations and rebuild
Hrensko will not get elected his support base is less then 1%. Whilst he would appear to be better then Ukraine's incumbent president he has not real solutions.
Those that try and support the presidential system do so on the misguided belief that a Ukraine needs to be ruled by an autocracy not democracy. Of course this argument only applied if the person elected is of your choosing.
Elmer: If Yanukovych is elected President will you be supporting the Yushchenko's proposal of the president having absolute power or is your support subject to the outcome of the election?
Its a case of we want democracy Ukraine but will not allow it.
Democracy is fine for other European States but Ukraine is a special case it needs a president with power .
If Ukraine wants to be a part of Europe then it needs to implement European models and European values. It will not happen over night BUT given a chance it will happen.
