Taras Chornovil: Yushchenko is incriminated in the murder of my father

November18200920:20

In an article for Ukrayinska Pravda, lawmaker Taras Chornovil throws new light on the murder of his father, 2000 presidential candidate Vyacheslav Chornovil.

Answering a question if he was asked to back up Yushchenko in the 2005 presidential election, the ex-Regions lawmaker answered negatively, «I couldn’t forgive Yushchenko many things, beginning with the «letter of the three» and ending with the facts about the murder of my father. I have no direct evidence of his involvement, but I have certain arguments».

«Five persons later recounted to me the episode happening at the drunken party after tennis and sauna at the then Interior Minister Kravchenko’s house at which Yushchenko was present. Kravchenko said loudly: «You can’t even kill a person properly [referring to Vyacheslav’s Chornovil murder]. Now I’ll have to dance in front of these muck-rakers and whitewash it as an ordinary accident», Chornovil recounted.

However, Taras Chornovil refused to name those present at the party at which Kravchenko reported about the ill-conceived murder of Vyacheslav Chornovil.

«One former Rukh member told me about a meeting at which was decided the destiny of Chornovil who was a thorn in the neck, obstructing «the wonderful plan» of unification of Rukh under Yushchenko’s control», he continued. «That was the beginning of a major rift in the Rukh.

I have no conclusive evidence against Yushchenko and, therefore, I cannot accuse him, Taras Chornovil repeated.

«Ex-president Leonid Kuchma writes in his second book of memoirs about the creation of a rightist political bloc to be controlled by Yushchenko and Kuchma’s administration: «I personally monitored Yushchenko’s career starting from the Central bank [by appointing Yushchenko governor]. I personally talked to all factions in the Rada trying to persuade them to back up Yushchenko for premier. However, immediately after his resignation he started a war against me. He failed to withstand the test of challenges», Kuchma summed up his relationships with Yushchenko in the summer of 2009.

    • All Ukrainian politicians suck. All are corrupt. The Orange Revolution failed in this respect.
  • 06:1719.11.09 Ukraine without Yushchenko
    • There is no doubt Ukraine will be better off without Yushchenko. Yushchenko's policies and actions are anti-democratic and more akin to an autocracy then a democracy. if any of the allegations suggested in this article are true then this is a serious matter in deed,
It would certainly explain why Yushchenko would not support the formation of an orange coalition back in 2006 and why he has undermined political stability in Ukraine ever since
