In the aftermath of a scandal involving a former chief official of the president’s office and then a deputy head of the security service SBU whose diploma had been forged, police will check the diplomas of all central executive and local governments officials, the interior ministry site runs.

The police stepped in when Verkhovna Rada lawmakers appealed for a nation-wide check of diplomas.

The scandal erupted when Police General Hennady Moskal (NUNS), pointed his finger at Andrij Kyslynsky known for his scathing accusation of Premier Tymoshenko of state treason. Moskal said Kyslynsky’s diploma had been forged. Kyslynsky went on the air to charge Moskal of political games to discredit him and his boss Pres Yushchenko.

Meanwhile, the ministry of education came up with a statement that Kyslynsky had never been a student of the Kyiv Shevchenko University as he claimed.

Pres Yushchenko dismissed A. Kyslynsky Oct. 13 without specifying the reasons for his decision.
