Tymoshenko accuses Yushchenko of official crime, calls him “politico”

Addressing journalists July 20, Premier Yulia Tymoshenko called Yushchenko’s veto on the budget code a heavy official crime, LIGA.net quotes her as saying.“It is a heavy official crime against local self-government [the budget code considerably raises local budgets, allocating to them some of the taxes- Ed.] Vetoing the code is a far cry from Yushchenko’s electoral promises he gave as candidate to local governments.” Tymoshenko said.
“What he has done is just the opposite. I really condemn his veto because it is the doing of a politico, not a politician,” the premier charged.
Meanwhile, the cabinet will implement the budget code using hands-on management, Tymoshenko assured.
“I know that additional funding is crucial for villages and towns. It is no use to shed crocodile tears over the decline of villages, it is necessary to redistribute the central budget to give local governments more financial muscle. We will shape up the 2010 budget using the provisions of this budget code,” she confirmed.
“In 2010, local governments will live on increased budgets,” Tymoshenko summed up.
