Pres Yushchenko urges US companies to invest in modernization of Ukraine’s pipelines

Ukraine is interested in receiving US investments to modernize its gas pipelines, Pres Yushchenko said during his meeting with US State Department envoy on energy issues in Eurasia Richard Morningstar in Prague, The Ukrainska Pravda reports.Both officials have also discussed future cooperation in the energy sector, the first session of the bilateral group on energy safety as well as cooperation in the nuclear sector.
Pres Yushchenko invited R.Morningstar to pay a visit to Ukraine.
The US Ambassador in Ukraine, William Taylor, said participation of US investors in modernization of Ukraine pipelines will be welcome.
Ukraine expects to attract about $2.57 bln to modernize its gas pipelines.
