Terms to get easy-travel permits by Ukrainians residing in border areas and wishing to cross into Slovakia differ from those imposed by Hungary. First, Ukrainians residing in Zakarpattya must submit invitations from Slovaks to visit them, Ernestina Federichova, Slovakia consulate second secretary said July 10 in Uzhgorod.Second, a foreign passport of a Ukrainian, as of the date of application for easy-travel permit, must be valid for the next 15 months. Third, Slovakia will demand confirmation of family connections between Ukrainians and Slovaks inviting them. Same as the Hungarian, the Slovak permit will also cost 15 euro. Children below 15 years will be exempted from this fee as well as seniors over 60 years. By comparison, Hungary welcomes all Zakarpattya pensioners regardless of their age.
All the terms will become effective following the ratification of the easy-travel agreement by Ukraine and Slovakia, something unlikely to happen until after September 1, Ukrainian and Slovak consular officials say.
