June 17, 100 local Communists and Viternko party members tried to disrupt in vain a 300-strong rally of supporters of Ukraine’s NATO aspirations outside Lviv Franko national university, a ZIK correspondent reports.Against fears, there was no scuffle, as about 40 police separated the groups.
While Our Ukraine representatives chanted slogans “Ukraine no longer needs the USSR. Ukraine needs NATO”, the Communists slogan was “NATO is death. ”
