2008 Oleksandr Kryvenko Award goes to Polish journalist

This year’s Oleksandr Kryvenko Award for journalists will go to a colleague from the Polish Gazeta Wyborcza Marcin Wojczehowski, ZIK reports May 13.In 2006, Marcin published a book about Kyiv’s Maidan, the site of the Orange revolution in Ukraine. The Kryvenko Award was given to the Polish journalist for his unbiased and principled stand which promotes the understanding between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples.
M. Wojczehowski knew the renowned Ukrainian journalist Oleksandr Kryvenko closely. Kryvenko opened my eyes to Ukraine, Marcin admitted. “Thanks to him, his talks and his writings I was able to learn many remarkable things about Ukraine,” the Polish journalist wrote.

Sashko Kryvenko, 13.05.1963 – 4.03.2003, was a charismatic personality, patriot, founder and editor of The Postup and PiK magazines. He worked for the TSN TV channel and the Public Radio in Kyiv.
In the past, the Kryvenko Award had been given to progressive Ukrainian journalists Serhij Rakhmanin, Volodymyr Arjev, Serhij Leshchenko and Vahtang Kipiani.
