UEFA calls Lviv airport modernization project highly risky

UEFA experts say Lviv airport modernization will have problems meeting the tight deadlines of preparations for EURO-2012. Ukraine officials have declared a concept for the country’s airport modernization but there is not even a program for it, they say. Meanwhile, the time for preparations is running out, deputy Lviv mayor for preparations for Euro-2012 Oleksandr Zharikov said, commenting on UEFA decision to ZIK.
“At our last meeting, Premier Yulia Tymoshenko have tasked us with drafting a clear-cut action plan as regards airports. I would like to note that the problems with Lviv airport are not as large as with other Ukrainian airports,” the official said.
O. Zharikov told the ZIK correspondent he will go to see a Euro-2008 semi-finals match, not merely as a fan, but also to “to learn some things about business.” He did not specify, however, who’s footing the bill for his trip.
