Lviv governor unwilling to join any party, even the presidential one

“I accepted the job not to join any party,” Lviv oblast acting Governor Mykola Kmit said, addressing his first press conference Apr. 1. He said he cannot even comment on his predecessor’s words that he has to head the NUNS bloc.“I would have been more handy for a political party when I was in business. Then I had more financial leverage. Just look at the parties rosters in parliament. There are more businessmen than politicians in VR. If I hadn’t joined any party before, now it doesn’t make sense. I have nothing against the Uniform Center or any other party. I haven’t even read their statutes. No one has offered me membership in any party, and it’s not on my agenda, anyway,” the new Lviv governor said.
