Former head of rayon administration to take Pres Yushchenko to court

Former head of Vyzhnytsia rayon state administration Vasyl Solomko who was dismissed by Pres Yushchenko on March 14, 2007, has protested to court, saying his dismissal was illegal. -The lawsuit is now considered by the Storozhynetsky rayon court. According to Vasyl Solomko, he was accused of having failed to implement social and economic development targets for 2006, of violations in the finance sector and lack of cooperation with local council deputies. All the accusations are groundless, the former official says, as the rayon rated 7th among other oblast rayons and 1st in the finance sector.

The trial originally set for Feb. 11 has been adjourned for a month at the request of the presidential administration whose representative was to participate in the trial.
