Russia’s TV channel sends team of journalists to Ivano-Frankivsk to report on Stepan Bandera life and recent statement by city council

Rossiya TV channel’s Vesti news program sent a team of journalists to shoot a segment about Stepan Bandera. They also interviewed city officials about Ivano-Frankivsk city council appeal to Pres Yushchenko to award the Hero of Ukraine medal posthumously to the leader of Ukrainian nationalists, the ZIK correspondent was told by the city council press service.Jan. 13, director of Rossiya TV and radio company office in Ukraine Yevhen Revenko visited the birth home of Stepan Bandera in Staryj Uhryniv, Kalush rayon, as well as Stepan Bandera memorial museum and the museum of liberation struggle in the Carpathian region located in Ivano-Frankivsk.
The Russians interviewed chairman of the city council Ihor Olijnyk about the council’s initiative to award Ukraine’s highest medal to Bandera. "The council voted unanimously in support of the initiative. Stepan Bandera, whose 100th birth anniversary is due this year, is the country’s distinguished political and public leader, the fighter for Ukrainian independence and state.
He is a symbol of a true love for his country," the official said.

- It’s curious to see that while Ukrainian Stepan Bandera is still regarded by many as a fascist bandit, the man whose Red Army troops smashed the Ukrainian independence, the Russian Bolshevik Vladimir Lenin, still have many statues in central squares and streets named after him all over Ukraine.
